Patches of one form, via the BUILDER's own definition of which patches count. patch-sources filters to kind = 'patch phases; an earlier version of this walked every phase's patches directly and would have counted a patch hung on a non-patch phase -- inert to the build, but printed and counted here. An audit index that disagrees with the builder about what a patch IS is worse than no index.

Report one package. Returns the number of audit-worthy items found, so the totals are a SUM OF WHAT WAS PRINTED rather than a second walk that could disagree with it.
